In 2000 Shaun Proulx left a successful career in finance to pursue his creative ambitions. In 2009 he was crowned “King Of All Media” by Fab Magazine, and was featured on CBC’s Connect with Mark Kelly in a career segment on successful people who were “technically unqualified, but rocked their careers based on sheer talent and moxie.”

In May 2009, OutTV, Canada’s queer television network, began shooting the acclaimed The Shaun Proulx Show inside the PROUD FM studios (home for three years of his wildly popular afternoon drive radio show) and on location, including Los Angeles. In October that year, the first episode – featuring Vanessa Williams and Liza Minnelli as guests – premiered to huge success before a national television audience, with OutTV ordering 19 episodes. In January 2010, Montreal’s Hour magazine ranked Shaun on their 3rd annual Hot List.

Previously, Shaun appeared regularly on television, contributing to shows such as CBC’s The HOUR, and MuchMoreMusic’s Popaganda. His work also appeared for years in various sections of Canada’s national newspaper, the Globe and Mail including ‘Globe Style’ and ‘Globe Toronto’. He is owner and publisher of the widely enjoyed online magazine GayGuideToronto.com, the city’s first online portal, currently celebrating eight years of serving the community. His blog, HIMBO! was named in Eye Weekly’s Best of Toronto list.

For several years Shaun wrote the popular scene column Cocktail Confessions for Xtra! and was a button-pushing monthly columnist and feature contributor, gaining infamy from his leading-edge, provocative articles on such topics as crystal meth and HIV and the law. He is frequently sought by mainstream Canadian and American media for comment on GLBT issues ranging from same-sex marriage to marketing to the queer community to issues around HIV / AIDS.

He has appeared on stage as a lead in the Canadian premiere of Paul Rudnick’s The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (2000), and as a lead on screen in Die Mutter, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2001. In 2006 he co-produced the Fashion Cares documentary DecAIDS – Anything Is Possible for Global Television, his first foray into documentary film making. It won “Best Social Documentary” at WorldFest in 2007, “Best Full Length Feature” at the New York AIDS Film Festival in 2007 and was an official selection of the Hollywood Festival the same year.

He lives in Toronto with his fiancé Patrick Marano (aka porn star Eddie Stone), with whom he was named “Canada’s Next Power Couple” by Outlooks magazine in 2009. They have two dogs, Jack and Ella, and a cat, Annie.

Mark is a 15 year veteran of the radio business, a voice heard on terrestrial stations in Toronto ON, Victoria & Vancouver BC, Calgary AB, Halifax NS, and nationally on CBC Radio. He is also a long time feature writer for newspapers and magazines including The Globe and Mail, SunMedia, AOL and Chill Magazine.

Currently, Mark is the Director of CBC RADIO 2 DRIVE w/Rich Terfry; heard 3:30-7pm weekdays on Canada’s National Music service.

From 2007-2010, Mark was the co-host and producer of the Afternoon Drive on 103.9 PROUD FM. A long time critic and reporter, Mark was named Entertainment Director for the station at its inception. Measured and thoughtful in his commentary, Wigmore is known to throw aside his calm demeanor when his passion for a story takes hold.

From 2000-2006, Wigmore entered a long stint as an on-air contributor and producer for the Number #1 Rated “John Donabie Morning Show” on radio station NewsTalk 1010 CFRB (Astral Media). It was working in news and talk where he found his love for current events, hard-hitting debate and personality driven radio. During this time, he also produced specific programs that covered Canadian politics, home improvement, round- table talk shows, news magazine programs, and consumer rights. In 2004, Mark took over as the daily feature(s) and lead Arts/Entertainment reporter and critic for the station.

Mark works almost as hard in print as he does in the audio world. He articles about film, travel and lifestyle appear regularly in magazines, newspapers and online.
